Week 4 - Clothes, Weapons, Hair Iterations and Colours
Having decided that I preferred the skirt over the trousers, I set about drawing very small differences onto 8 of the figures after, including where fabric might be missing, the designs, and any protective gear the character may have on. For now, I've decided to go for the top right-most design.
Below are some accessories I started to do for the character but found near to no inspiration for this, so I've put it on hold for now and will be focusing more on other aspects of the visual design.
During this week, I also had a meeting with Mark and he basically made me see that I cannot make a new hero for Overwatch, however I can create a character inspired by Overwatch. This means that I can use the same type of idea and art style but I cannot say it is for Overwatch. It did come as a slight blow to me, though I do not know why as it actually doesn't really change what I'm doing and if anything lightens my work load. Instead of having 3 weeks at the end leeway for additional work for how I would incorporate my design into an Overwatch environment and website, I get 3 weeks 'extra' to work more on my core project.
As well as the meeting, we had a talk from Nick Carver who showed us his work and gave us advice on how to proceed with a lot of things. I took some notes but in my meeting with Mark, he really hammered home that it would be useful for me to choose a thing or animal which may share characteristics of anything I'm designing. I can't say I remember the last time I tried that so I'm going to try that now that I have a rough idea of what type or shape of clothes I like.
I will be using this next week to continue with the "Clothes, Weapons, Hair Iterations and Colour" section of my project and starting on adapting the clothes. It was suggested to me by someone to draw inspiration from the snake, so I'll try that.
This is has been the second half of the two week section of defining the clothes, weapons and hair - the designs and colours. I haven't even done a third of this list.
The next three pieces of work show my process of refining the clothes.
I started off with the idea of the character being stealth and a rogue - focusing on clothing which would not limit her movement, but also look good and protect her. The high boots seemed to be a must, with tight fitting clothes in general.

I wanted to try some clothing with a skirt to perhaps show she is still a child, or a girly girl at heart, despite her violent and deadly nature. I liked the skirt idea, but I had to be careful that it didn't remind me too much of Sombra, which one design did. I experimented a cloak on my initial set of depends but the set above shows my first two serious designs incorporating a cloak.
In the set of designs below, I took what I thought was the best of the 2nd piece and swapped the skirts for trousers to see what it would look like.
